The Bellevue Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry / Dr. Lynn Jones is pleased to offer some patients a faster way to their best smile with Invisalign: the Propel Excellerator PT.

Some, but not all patients find that this treatment makes Invisalign trays do the work of shaping their smile even faster. Tiny oscillations created by the Propel Excellerator PT treatment can sometimes make teeth being treated with Invisalign move into position even faster than with Invisalign alone.

invisalign1 2 Dr. Jones and Dr. Yu have seen great results in some patients who wear their Invisalign trays as directed. With Propel Excellerator PT treatment, some patients have seen as much as 50% faster treatment time with Invisalign. However, they caution that not all patients' smiles can respond to this treatment, so the faster results are not guaranteed.

This study discusses the science behind the Propel Excellerator PT:

The Dental Tribune agrees with Dr. Jones and Dr. Yu's experience with the Propel Excellerator PT :

"The results of this simple procedure are profound." - The Dental Tribune

Is Teeth Whitening Safe?

Teeth whitening is a wonderful way to eliminate noticeable stains or discoloration, brighten your smile and change your overall look. Dr. Lynn Jones is the dentist Bellevue/Seattle teeth whitening patients trust for whiter, brighter and more beautiful teeth. Although it is widely known that modern teeth whitening is effective, its safety is often in question — perhaps because of the materials used to bleach and whiten the teeth. One query that commonly comes up among teeth whitening patients is whether the treatment is safe. In this blog post, Dr. Jones puts those worries to rest by explaining what teeth whitening involves and why in-office treatment is safe.

How Do I Know If I Have TMJ Disorder?

Although issues involving the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) are common (affecting an estimated 10 to 30 million Americans), TMJ disorder is widely misunderstood. The TMJ is a complex joint since it both hinges and slides. Also, many of the symptoms of TMJ problems, such as headaches or earaches, can be misinterpreted as something else. Accurate detection and diagnosis is necessary, since the condition won’t improve or go away with time.

Here, Dr. Lynn Jones, a trusted Seattle/Bellevue dentist, shares a quick self-test for your TMJ; she also describes symptoms you should be aware of that could indicate a problem with the TMJ.

A Self-Test to Try

Here is a quick test to check your TMJ:

Place a finger over the joint just in front of your ear (that’s your TMJ) and slowly open your jaw wide. You should feel your TMJ moving.

Is it tender to the touch or sore?

Do you hear a clicking or popping sound when opening your jaw?

If you answered yes to either question, you might have a problem with your TMJ and should schedule an examination with Dr. Jones to get it checked out.

Symptoms that Could Indicate TMJ Disorder

Besides a clicking or popping sound and a soreness or tenderness in the jaw joint, there are other symptoms that could indicate a problem with the TMJ. While these symptoms are not mutually exclusive to TMJ, they should still be examined by a professional.

  • Pain in the face, jaw or neck
  • Headaches and ear pain
  • Stiffness in the jaw
  • Inability to completely open the jaw
  • Jaw gets “locked” in the open or closed position

The occasional headache or sore jaw usually does not mean that TMJ disorder is the culprit. However, if you experience these symptoms on a regular basis, especially in tandem, you should schedule an appointment with our dentist. Ignoring these signs could cause TMJ disorder to worsen to the point that it requires costly, extensive treatment or surgery.
